Our class recently got 10 Compliment Bugs for having a wonderful line at break time.
To celebrate, Mr Walsh had a surprise for us. We were going to make our own edible snowmen!
First we heated marshmallows and a tiny bit of butter in a microwave, and then added loads of Rice Krispies.
After a lot of mixing, we formed the mixture into two balls. The bigger ball was for the body of our snowman, and smaller one was for the head.
When they had cooled we covered them in cream and stuck on Smarties for eyes.
We put a sweet on it head on to look like a hat.
Our marshmallow snowmen looked great and tasted delicious!
Have a look at what Ms. Phelan's second class are up to in room 21.

Gerry Boland visit
Today second class were very lucky to get a visit from a brilliant author called Gerry Boland.
Gerry has written many books, but he is best known for writing the Marco series of children's books.
He gave us a lovely reading of his book "Marco Moves In".
Click here to get a preview of some of the Marco books.
We want to say a huge thank you to Gerry for coming in and inspiring us to become authors!

Christmas Visit to Cavan Post Office
This is a post about something brilliant that we did before the Christmas break.
We were lucky enough to be invited to visit Cavan Post Office to post our letters to Santa!
After consulting with our family, browsing through several toy magazines, watching the Late Late Toy Show and being incredibly good for TWELVE whole months; we finally came up with a list of gifts we wanted to ask Santa for.
We examined the correct method for writing a letter, making sure we put our address at the top right hand corner, followed by the date, and then we put our greeting on the next line on the left hand side of the page.
Then using our very, very neatest writing we wrote our letters to Santa. It was very exciting!
When the letters were ready, we folded them into envelopes and got a bus to Cavan Post Office. The postal workers told us all about the journey our letters take to get to The North Pole. It is a long journey involving planes, trains, trucks and reindeer.
It was a brilliant outing at a very busy time for the people in the Post Office. We tried our best to say thank you by singing as many Christmas songs as we knew!
We really appreciate the help and enthusiasm from everyone in the Post Office.
We also especially want to thank our bus driver for organising the trip.
Merry Christmas everyone!
